While we discuss plantation and environment, we realize that there are effects, that includes extreme weather, to be more involved in people’s lives as they bring most changes.
Whereas some of the vegetables are concerned, they withstand a fair amount of frost and continue to grow even when temperatures are in the low forties. A great number of others can’t tolerate this and stop growing in winter. Green and leafy vegetables, such as swiss chard, kale and mustard greens can be reaped before the leaves reach full size.
At times these small leaves are more effortless and healthier than mature ones. These crops can be planted in progression every few weeks after the season in the spring and summer, to provide a steady supply of new leaves.
Most people would like to know how and what they could do with their backyard garden. Moreover, people are always looking around to make developments on how to utilize things that are around. Through these efforts, over the plantation, they sustain full time growths.
Sage is a perennial in most parts of the world and does not need special arrangements for the winter. Before frost affects its growth, cut a branch or two and dry them so that they could be used in stuffing at occasions like birthdays and Thanksgiving!
Rosemary is another fall herb that people relate to growing in a backyard garden. People can use it fresh or either dried. The essence is remarkable either way, it’s all a matter of choice. If you grow it in a pot, that can save it because it can be easily moved inside for the time when the weather gets too cold.
Interesting to note is that since rosemary likes to dry out, it is evident that it likes its own space. People can use them as holiday gifts or even baked and served with olive oil and Parmesan cheese.
Parsley, a biennial, will tolerate a light frost. Parsley is one of the super healthy foods that brings health to the body and seems to be quite more enriched with vitamin C than any other plant of the same. You can make lots of things with it, but it’s best to chop and sprinkle it on dishes that are cooked in the kitchen.
Mint is another such herb that could be easily grown in the backyard. It is strongly recommended that you grow it in a container or a jar because it will acquire whatever space you provide it. Mint Juleps is a tea (dried and used like the lemon balm).
Kale is another rapidly growing herb that you can easily grow in the fall season. This could be sown directly, both outdoors and indoors during the fall season. It will also keep on growing into the fall season. This green vegetable is considered to be for salads or steamed stews, and would add beauty to your fall garden.
