A few simple strategies for losing weight
Here are a set of simple strategies that will help you lose weight fast. You didn’t put on extra weight overnight, so it won’t go away overnight either. Focus on these aspects of weight loss this week, and build on them in the following weeks. With time and patience, you will be able to achieve your target, just follow these strategies.
Healthy diet
The most important aspect of losing weight is watching what you eat. The right kind of food can really boost your metabolism and increase your weight-loss. Focus on eating healthy this week. Just follow these simple rules.
Eat high fiber low calorie meals
The math is simple. If you consume more calories than you burn, you are going to have extra calories stored in your body as fat. Count your calories. Read the nutrition facts on the food you eat and choose low calorie, low fat and high fiber foods. Your diet should contain the following.
- Fruits and Berries: Raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and blueberries are weight-loss super foods. They are high in fiber and antioxidants and low in fat. Also try eating more fruits such as apples, pears, bananas, oranges, watermelon, and grapefruit. They are high in vitamins and minerals and low in calories.
- Seafood: Eating fish will help you to reduce fat and also keep you healthy. Fish is high in omega-3 fatty acids and essential amino acids that keep you healthy without getting you fat.
- Veggies: Spinach, avocados, broccoli and cabbage are nutritional powerhouses.
- Yogurt: Yogurt is an excellent source of protein and calcium. It also reduces stress.
- Nuts: Nuts are great for a quick snack that will take care of your craving for potato chips.
- Peanut butter: Eating peanut butter with brown bread is an excellent weight loss super food.
- Lean beef and chicken: Eat less red meat. Try eating skinless chicken and some lean beef in moderation.
Cut back on carbohydrates
There are important nutrients in wholegrain breads and pastas, but many of us eat carbs to get the “full” feeling. Too much of these foods will slow down our digestion and prevent us from having enough appetite for fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and lean proteins that really nourish us.
Avoid packaged food & read labels
Avoid canned, packaged and processed food such as canned, processed beans because they are high in sugar and sodium. Foods that brag to be “low fat” often contain extra sugar and sodium to make them taste better, and vice versa.
Reduce fast food
Fast food is high in calories with unhealthy oils, salt and sugar. When you consume foods that don’t nourish you but merely fulfill a temporary craving, you get hungry again very quickly. It’s your body telling you that it didn’t get what it needs!
Eat less sugar
Just cutting back on your sugar intake will help you lose weight and stay fit. When you read the labels, you will find sugar in unexpected places, like pasta sauce and frozen foods. Sugar that isn’t burned, turns into fat in your body. Cutting back on sugar will improve your overall health.
Drink more water
Recent studies have found that people who drink more water can lose weight faster than people who don’t. Water has many other health benefits. Try to avoid carbonated drinks, sugary drinks and sports drinks because they are high in calories and unwanted additives.

Move your body
To lose weight fast, you have to move your body in any way you can. Even if you don’t think you have enough time for physical activities, there are ways you can find things to do with your body and keep moving. Park further away from the shop door, take the stairs instead of the elevator, do stretches at your desk, the list goes on!
Take short walks
Walking is a great exercise. Take a short walk break whenever you can. You can walk while you are talking on your phone or while taking a coffee break. Even walking for couple of minutes will benefit your body.
Join a fitness program
Find a suitable fitness program in your community or in a nearby health and fitness center. Your trainer can put you on a program that best suits your body type.
Participate in sports and physical activities
Any kind of physical activity will help you burn calories and lose weight. Ride your bike to work, join your kids in any physical game or sport, and have family time together filled with fun.
Find something to do
Try to find something that you can do with your hands. Things like knitting, playing an instrument, playing cards and board games or engaging in conversations with your friends will take your mind off food craving and help you lose weight.
Get into healthy habits
A healthy lifestyle goes a long way to losing weight. You will find that little things like going to bed on-time, reducing your alcohol consumption and swapping out soda for water will help you stay in shape. Also get in the habit of exercising regularly.
Stay motivated!
Check your progress, get an exercise buddy and stay focused on your goals. It is very easy to lose focus and start eating junk or start living an unhealthy lifestyle, which may throw you off your target.
Stay active, stay connected with your friends, and feel good about yourself.
