Exposure to natural light is important all year round and for many reasons, but especially so now, as most of us find ourselves spending a considerable amount of time in our homes due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This infographic from HappyCleans contains some tips on how you can allow more natural light into your home.

We often overlook the fact that exposure to natural light is such an important part of daily life for multiple health reasons but we must also not forget that utilising natural light where possible in place of artificial light will also save us money! Not only does daily exposure to natural light give us our required amount of Vitamin D but it also can improve sleep and fights against depression and Seasonal Affective Disorder.

If you don’t receive enough natural light it can make you feel depressed and sad. Sunlight can fight against sadness and depression as it encourages the brain to release serotonin which is a mood-lifter!

If you are able to, try and spend at least 10-15 minutes per day in direct sunlight, ideally before the sun gets too strong so that you do not burn your skin. And ensure you draw all window coverings in your home to let as much natural light as possible stream in!
