Here we will show you how to make your own eco-friendly cleaners.

I will confess, I don’t really enjoy cleaning my house. I also hate the smell that many of the strong commercial cleaners have. However, I do feel good after cleaning my house! Especially if cleaning leaves my house germ free, shiny and fresh smelling. If you are like me, you’ll enjoy these eco-friendly natural cleaning recipes that I have put together here on this blog.

3 DIY Eco-Friendly Cleaning Recipes

You can make your own eco-friendly cleaning products easily at home using readily available natural ingredients.  It will allow you to be both environmentally friendly and economically smart, which we often refer as ecolonomic cleaning. If you want to be a commercial cleaner or just clean your house with eco-friendly products,  these choices will help you save money and also the improve the environment. So, here we go:

1. Natural Window and Glass Cleaner:   

spray bottle Here is an all-natural window and glass cleaner that you can make very easily and quickly. It’s made with all natural ingredients but has professional strength!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol (70% concentration)
  • 1 to 2 drops of orange essential oil (optional for smell)

Process:

Get an empty spray bottle and combine all ingredients. Now you have a bottle of eco-friendly window and glass cleaner. Spray on a paper towel or cloth and wipe down windows and mirrors.

2. Homemade Brass Cleaner:

furniture If you have old picture frames or other ornamental show pieces at home that need cleaning, you’re going to be really pleased with the results you’ll get with your own brass cleaner.   

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 a lemon
  • A teaspoon (or so) of baking soda
  • 1 small bowl to mix your paste

Process:

Get your mixing bowl and squeeze half a lemon into it. Add your baking soda and stir it into a paste. If you don’t have baking soda, add a little salt. Apply this paste onto dirty brass, rubbing gently in one direction. Let it dry and rinse off the paste. Reapply if necessary. If you want to buff your brass, you can do so by rubbing with a dry towel in circular motion.  A little olive oil can really help it shine.

3. Natural Non-Toxic Kitchen Wipes::

kitchen You’d want to clean your kitchen without any toxic chemicals. This is a great natural cleaner for your kitchen counter and furniture to makes them shine and disinfect.

Ingredients:

  • Cut up square cotton cloth (Old T-shirt fabric works well )
  • Container (Use an old container of wipes)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 8-10 drops lemon essential oil
  • 8-10 drops eucalyptus essential oil
  • 5-7 drops tea tree essential oil

Process:

Fold the square and put the fabric into the container. Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl and pour it over your fabric. That’s it; now you’ve got your all-purpose kitchen wipes! The vinegar will disinfect your kitchen counter. Essential oils have natural antibacterial and natural germicide properties. They also add a pleasant scent to your cleaner.
